Overview
The Automated Toilet Paper Replacement System was created to serve as an assistive device that enables easier and more independent toilet paper roll replacement for those those with limited hand strength, dexterity, or mobility. From our analysis. the system is able to replace toilet paper rolls in less than 5 seconds, approximately 48.1% faster than doing so by hand.
The system was designed in Solidworks and primarily fabricated out of 1/4" laser cut plywood and 3D printed PLA components. The entire project was completed for under $200 and won the Best Presentation category out of 20 other teams at the UCSB Junior Design (ME153) Engineering Design Fair.
